Noos (The Mind / Understanding)
EN — Transliteration: Noûs
Noos (νοῦs) or Nous designates the faculty of thinking, reasoning, and moral perception. Far from rejecting the intellect, Paul shows that it is precisely in the renewed mind that the transformation of the human being occurs.
Noos designates reflective intelligence, the seat of critical and moral judgment. For Paul, faith is not a resignation of intelligence, but its full restoration.
🔬 The Redeemed Intellect
Certain gnostic or mystical currents viewed the intellect as evil and advocated its silencing. Paul, however, asserts that the metamorphosis of the self occurs through the active mind. It is the critical intellect, renewed by grace, that discerns the divine will.
