Hades (The Grave / Silent Sleep)

EN — Transliteration: Hádēs

Translates the Hebrew 'Sheol' as the grave, the pit, or the state of the dead. It is a place of silent, unconscious rest, not a mystical place of torment.

📖 Réf. : Mt 11:23 | Mt 16:18 | Lk 16:23 | Acts 2:27 | Acts 2:31 | Rev 1:18 | Rev 20:13-14

Hades (ᾅδης) is simply the grave or the state of the dead, a place of unconscious sleep, not a mythological underworld of fire.

🔬 Sheol and the Sleep of Death

The Silent Grave: In the Old Testament, Sheol is the place where all go at death, both righteous and unrighteous. It is characterized by silence and lack of activity (Ecclesiastes 9:10).

The Greek Overlap: When Hebrew scriptures were translated into Greek (Septuagint), Sheol was translated as Hades. Mythological ideas about Hades were later read into the text, distorting it.
