Agape (Unconditional Love)

EN — Transliteration: Agápē

The term Agape is the pivot of the revelation of God's nature. Unlike eros (passion) or philia (mutual affection), agape describes an unconditional, voluntary love that does not depend on the merits or value of the loved one. It is the very essence of Grace.

📖 Réf. : Mt 24:12 | Jn 13:35 | Rom 5:8 | 1 Cor 13:1-13 | Gal 5:22 | 1 Jn 4:8 | 1 Jn 4:16

Agape (ἀγάπη) is not a simple human feeling of affection or attraction. It is the very expression of the divine nature: a sovereign, unconditional and unilateral love that creates value in the beloved instead of demanding it.

🔬 Comparison of Love Forms in Greek

The Greek language distinguishes between different forms of love. Unlike Eros (which depends on the attraction of the object) or Philia (which requires social reciprocity), Agape is absolute and unearned.
