Aiōn (The Age / The Era)

EN — Transliteration: Aiṓn

Aion (αἰών) denotes a duration of time, an age, or the spirit of an era. Translating this term as 'the world' (as in 'be not conformed to this world' in Rom 12:2) or 'eternity' has caused massive misunderstandings. Aion is a temporal flow with a beginning and an end.

📖 Réf. : Mt 13:39 | Rom 12:2 | 1 Cor 2:6 | Eph 2:2 | Heb 1:2

Aion (αἰών) is the temporal term par excellence. Unlike kosmos which designates the ordered space, aion designates the temporal dimension: an epoch, an age, or the dominant belief system of an era.

📖 Romans 12:2 — The Present Age

"Do not be conformed to this age (aion), but be transformed by the renewal of your mind..."

Paul does not ask believers to hate the physical world or creation, but to resist the collective mindset or dominant ideology that characterizes the present age.
